In 1967, Vallila started designing textiles in-house and began the first of many successful collaborations with leading designers. This continued through the 1970s with renowned American artist and textile designer Howard Smith, whose prints still feature in the collection today.

In the 1980s Vallila began working with public spaces and importing leading interior brands. This continued in the new millennium, and led by Otto's son Rudolf Berner, Vallila's collection became a well-known interior brand. At the same time Vallila's project interiors business grew, to become a successful full-service design and contract manufacturing division, complemented by the professional use of leading imported fabrics and the representation of some of the world's top design furniture brands. Today, the Vallila Collection is run by Rudolf.

Finnish design from Vallila, Helsinki

Over the years Vallila's textile collections have renewed, innovated and looked forward. Each year in Spring and Autumn a new collection is launched, encompassing all aspects of the contemporary home interior - from home textiles, rugs and shower curtains, to bedding and kitchen accessories.

Vallila employs seven full-time textile designers - Tanja Orsjoki, Matleena Issakainen, Riina Kuikka, Saara Kurkela, Vilma Pellinen, Miia Puustinen and Taija Lammi - supported by a great variety of leading designers and artists from different fields. Our products and textiles strictly follow EU standards and quality criteria, developed by our head office in Helsinki, within the original Vallila factory halls, which today feature spacious showrooms, offices and modern design studios.
